The experiments on contortions are born from the themes: sets of “surprise-movement” and like in other cases, they have been developed separately. For instance the contortions use flexible while rhodoid ribbons, creating circles on a black screen, where they slowly change their shapes. They are driven by 2 handles directing different speed (engine of 5rpm and 4rpm).The same principle uses polish stainless steel ribbons placed in front of a stripped background. They gather and distort the lines in their movements. Place on a white screen the sharp incidence of light ads to the distortion of the ribbons; this led me to experiment with artificial and directed light.
